General Setup and Connection

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PickMyTrade and how does it work with Rithmic?

PickMyTrade is a service that allows you to automate trades from TradingView. By connecting your Rithmic account to PickMyTrade, you can use alerts from your TradingView indicators or strategies to automatically execute trades on your Rithmic account.

How do I connect my Rithmic account to PickMyTrade?

First, register a separate PickMyTrade account specifically for Rithmic. Then, navigate to the Broker Connections section, select Rithmic, and click Add Connection. Enter your Rithmic username, password, and system name, and then click Connect. The status will show as "Connected" if your credentials are correct.

What are the two types of alerts I can use?

You can use either an INDICATOR alert, which is based on technical indicators like RSI or Moving Averages, or a STRATEGY alert, which is based on a predefined trading strategy in TradingView.

What is the process for setting up an alert in TradingView?

After configuring your alert settings in PickMyTrade, click Generate Alert. In TradingView, create a new alert, paste the copied alert code into the message box, and paste the webhook URL from PickMyTrade into the Webhook URL field in your TradingView notification settings. Finally, click Create Alert.

Can I trade a different symbol than the one my alert is on?

Yes. When you set up the alert in PickMyTrade, you can enter a specific trading symbol (e.g., NQMS) that is different from the symbol on your TradingView chart (e.g., NQ). PickMyTrade will then execute the trade on the symbol you specified. If you don't specify a symbol, it will use the one from your TradingView chart.

Can I connect multiple Rithmic accounts to a single PickMyTrade account?

Yes, you can. However, each additional Rithmic connection costs $50 per month.

Stop Loss and Take Profit

What are the different methods for calculating Stop Loss (SL) and Take Profit (TP)?

You have five options for setting up SL and TP:

  • Point / Dollar: Manually enter the specific dollar amount you are willing to risk or aim to gain.
  • Percentage: Enter a percentage of the entry price for both your SL and TP.
  • Price: Use TradingView's {{plot_x}} variables to dynamically set the SL and TP based on your indicator's plotted values.
  • Ticks: Enter the number of ticks away from the entry price for your SL and TP.
  • Total Profit / Loss: Specify the total dollar amount you are willing to lose or gain per contract.

How do I use the {{plot_x}} variables for my SL and TP?

The {{plot_x}} variables are placeholders that represent the different values your indicator plots on the chart. For example, {{plot_1}} might represent your Stop Loss level and {{plot_2}} your Take Profit level. When setting up your alert in TradingView, you would enter these variables in the message box, and PickMyTrade will use their live values at the time the alert is triggered.

Account and Order Management

What is the difference between a Quantity Multiplier and a Risk Percentage?

  • Quantity Multiplier: Adjusts the number of contracts for a trade by a specific factor. For example, a multiplier of 2 will double the size of all your trades.
  • Risk Percentage: Automatically calculates the trade size based on your stop loss distance to ensure that the total risk of the trade is a specific percentage of your account capital.

Do I need to enter a trading symbol if I want to use Ticks or Total Loss for my stop loss?

Yes. The symbol is mandatory for these stop-loss types because PickMyTrade needs it to correctly calculate the stop loss and take profit levels based on the asset's tick size or point value.
