Why Automation Wins

Manual trading forces you to watch charts constantly and enter orders by hand, leading to missed opportunities and emotional decisions. Pine Script strategies require advanced coding skills and still need manual order placement.

PickMyTrade automation bridges the gap by connecting your TradingView alerts directly to ProjectX with zero coding. Set it once, and every alert automatically becomes a trade—with proper risk management, stop losses, and take profits applied instantly.

Common ProjectX Automation Questions

What is ProjectX?

ProjectX is a futures trading engine known for its reliable, fast order management. On 28 February 2026 ProjectX ended licensing to outside prop firms and became exclusive to Topstep, which now runs the technology as TopstepX. So when traders say "ProjectX" today, they are almost always trading on TopstepX. It supports demo accounts for strategy testing and evaluation or funded accounts for live trading.

How does TradingView connect to ProjectX?

TradingView doesn't directly connect to ProjectX—that's where PickMyTrade automation comes in. We act as the bridge: TradingView sends alerts via webhooks to PickMyTrade, and we translate those alerts into orders sent to your ProjectX/TopstepX account through secure API connections. PickMyTrade processes your order in under 200ms on our side. Your total fill time also depends on your broker's execution speed, network latency, and how quickly TradingView sends the alert.

Which futures contracts can I trade?

Through ProjectX, you can automate trading on all major CME futures contracts including E-mini NQ, ES, YM, RTY, micro futures (MNQ, MES, MYM, M2K), crude oil (CL), natural gas (NG), gold (GC), and many others. If ProjectX supports it, PickMyTrade can automate it.

Is my trading data secure?

Absolutely. PickMyTrade uses bank-level encryption for all data transmission. We never store your ProjectX credentials—instead, we use secure API tokens that you can revoke at any time. Your trading account remains fully under your control, and we only have permission to place orders based on your pre-configured rules.

Can I use this with funded accounts?

Yes. PickMyTrade gives you the risk controls that help with prop-firm rules: stop loss and take profit on every order, position sizing by fixed quantity or risk percentage, and per-account limits. On ProjectX/TopstepX this means your Topstep evaluation or funded account . Copy-trading and automation rules vary by prop firm and change over time, so always confirm your firm's current policy before you go live. You remain responsible for your own rule compliance.

What if I want to trade manually sometimes?

No problem! PickMyTrade automation works alongside manual trading. You can enable or disable automation for specific alerts, pause automation when you want manual control, or run both simultaneously. The choice is always yours—you stay in control of when and how automation executes.

ProjectX and TopstepX Explained (What Changed in 2026)

ProjectX was a futures trading engine that powered many prop firms' platforms. In late 2025 ProjectX announced it was winding down its third-party service, and on 28 February 2026 it ended licensing to outside prop firms. The technology did not disappear. Topstep took it exclusive and rebranded it as TopstepX, the platform Topstep now uses for its evaluations, funded accounts, and live brokerage product.

What this means in practice: if you used ProjectX through another firm before 2026, that firm has since moved to a different engine. Today, when people say "ProjectX," they are almost always trading on TopstepX. The two names point to the same underlying technology, and PickMyTrade connects to it the same way either way, using a TopstepX API key.

ProjectX and TopstepX Trade Copier: One Signal to Many Accounts

PickMyTrade is also a trade copier for ProjectX and TopstepX. A single TradingView alert can fire across several connected accounts at once, so you do not have to place the same trade by hand in each one. This is the "internal copy trading" pattern: routing your own strategy alerts to your own accounts.

Each account can carry its own multiplier and risk-based sizing, so the same signal can trade a different number of contracts per account. Set a smaller evaluation account to a lower multiplier and a larger account to a higher one, and PickMyTrade scales the quantity for you while keeping your stop loss and take profit levels aligned across accounts.

Copy-trading rules differ by firm and change over time. Some firms allow copying your own alerts across your own accounts but prohibit third-party signal services or letting someone else trade your account. Always confirm your firm's current policy before you use copying on a funded account.

Built-In Risk Management for Topstep Rules

Funded accounts live and die by risk rules, so PickMyTrade puts the controls on the order itself, before it reaches your TopstepX account.

  • Stop loss and take profit, five ways: set them by points or dollar value, percentage, fixed price, ticks, or total profit and loss. Attach both to every entry so no trade goes on without protection.
  • Trailing stop: define a trail value, a trigger, and a frequency to lock in gains as price moves your way.
  • Position sizing: trade a fixed quantity or size by risk percentage so each account risks a consistent amount.
  • Per-account multipliers: scale contracts up or down per account, which keeps smaller evaluation accounts inside tighter limits.
  • Contract and quantity limits: cap the size PickMyTrade will send, so a runaway signal cannot push past what your account allows.

Topstep enforces a daily loss limit and a trailing maximum drawdown. Sizing your stops and quantities inside PickMyTrade helps you stay clear of those thresholds, but you are responsible for your own rule compliance. Topstep's limits and consistency rules are set by Topstep and can change, so read your current account rules and size accordingly. Topstep evaluations and funded accounts

Frequently Asked Questions: ProjectX & TopstepX

Is ProjectX the same as TopstepX now?

In practice, yes. ProjectX ended third-party licensing on 28 February 2026 and Topstep took the technology exclusive, rebranding it as TopstepX. When people say "ProjectX" today, they are trading on TopstepX. PickMyTrade connects to it with a TopstepX API key.

Can I automate TradingView strategies to a Topstep or TopstepX funded account?

Yes. You generate a TopstepX API key, add the account to PickMyTrade, paste the webhook URL into TradingView, and your buy, sell, and close alerts fire automatically. Topstep sets its own rules for automation and API use, and those rules can change, so confirm Topstep's current policy before trading a live funded account.

How do I get my TopstepX (Topstep) API key and connect it to PickMyTrade?

Log in to your Topstep/TopstepX account, create an API key, then add a ProjectX/TopstepX connection in PickMyTrade and paste the key in. Select your account, set your risk defaults, and paste the PickMyTrade webhook URL into a TradingView alert. Our Topstep API access guide walks through every step with screenshots.

Does PickMyTrade work with ProjectX-based funded accounts, and which firms still use it?

Since 28 February 2026, Topstep is the firm that runs on ProjectX technology, as TopstepX. Firms that previously used ProjectX have moved to other engines. PickMyTrade automates TopstepX accounts today, and also connects to Tradovate and Rithmic accounts that many other prop firms run on. Rules vary by firm, so always confirm your firm's current policy.

Can I copy one TradingView signal to multiple ProjectX/TopstepX accounts at once?

Yes. One alert can fire across several connected accounts, each with its own multiplier and sizing, while your stop loss and take profit levels stay aligned. This is for copying your own alerts to your own accounts. Confirm your firm's copy-trading policy before using it on funded accounts.

How does PickMyTrade help me stay within Topstep's daily loss limit and consistency rules?

PickMyTrade attaches stop loss and take profit to every order, sizes by fixed quantity or risk percentage, and lets you cap contracts per account with multipliers and quantity limits. That keeps each trade's risk defined before it reaches TopstepX. You remain responsible for your own compliance, and Topstep's limits can change, so size to your current account rules.

Which futures contracts can I trade through ProjectX/TopstepX?

Index futures and their micros like NQ, MNQ, ES, MES, YM, and RTY, plus other major CME, CBOT, NYMEX, and COMEX products such as CL, NG, and GC. Availability depends on your Topstep account and data subscription.

How fast is order execution and what is the uptime?

PickMyTrade processes your order in under 200ms on our side. Your total fill time also depends on your broker's execution speed, network latency, and how quickly TradingView sends the alert, so we do not promise a guaranteed end-to-end number. PickMyTrade's published platform uptime is 99.9%.

Can I test in a TopstepX evaluation or demo before risking a funded account?

Yes, and we recommend it. Connect an evaluation or demo/practice account, run your alerts on a one-minute chart, and confirm entries, exits, stops, and targets in the alert log before you switch a live funded account on.

How is this different from TopstepX's native TradingView chart integration?

TopstepX's own chart integration lets you place and manage trades manually from a TradingView chart. PickMyTrade is about automation: it takes your TradingView alerts and executes them for you, adds stop loss, take profit, sizing, and multipliers, and can copy one signal to several accounts at once. Use the native integration for manual trading and PickMyTrade for hands-off, rules-based execution.

What does PickMyTrade cost and is there a free trial?

$50 per month or $500 per year, with a 5-day free trial and no card required to start. Your Topstep/TopstepX subscription is separate and paid to Topstep.

Fast & Accurate Execution

This example illustrates how precision and speed transform market prospects into actionable trades. The strategy buys NQ at 21,891, setting a stop loss at 21,841 and a take profit at 21,991, which is 100 points above. With 10 contracts, trade parameters are well defined, capping potential loss at $10,000 and profit at $20,000.

As soon as the alert goes off on TradingView, PickMyTrade processes the order in under 200ms on our side and sends it straight to the market, keeping the gap between signal and order as small as possible. Your total fill time also depends on your broker's execution, network latency, and how fast TradingView sends the alert.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about TradingView to ProjectX automation

Setup & Connections

How do I set up automated trading alerts from TradingView with PickMyTrade and ProjectX?

Step 1: Connect your ProjectX account in PickMyTrade.

Step 2: Generate an alert in PickMyTrade.

Step 3: Create a new alert in TradingView and paste the alert code from PickMyTrade into the 'message box.'

What is a Webhook URL, and where do I find it?
A Webhook URL is the connection point for TradingView to send alerts to PickMyTrade. You can find it in PickMyTrade after generating an alert.
How do I connect my ProjectX account to a prop firm account via API?
Log into ProjectX, connect your prop firm via their login portal, generate an API key, and add it in PickMyTrade's connection settings.

Alerts & Order Logic

What's the difference between an Indicator and a Strategy alert type?

Indicator: Triggers from specific chart conditions (manual/semi-automated use).

Strategy: Triggers from a full Pine Script strategy with entry and exit automation.

How do the Buy, Sell, and Close alerts work?

Buy Alert: Opens or adds to a long position; closes any open short position first.

Sell Alert: Opens or adds to a short position; closes any open long position first.

Close Alert: Closes all open positions and cancels pending orders.

Trade Management & Risk Settings

Can I use both quantity and risk percentage for my trades?
No. You must choose either fixed quantity or risk percentage per trade. Both cannot be used simultaneously.
How do the different Stop Loss and Take Profit types work?

Point/Dollar (from entry): Sets SL/TP at a specific point distance (e.g., -100 points from entry).

Percentage: Sets SL/TP as a percentage of entry price (e.g., -2% from entry).

Ticks: Sets SL/TP in tick increments, useful for futures contracts.

Total Profit/Loss (USD): Fixed dollar gain/loss per contract.

Troubleshooting & Errors

What does "Account Not Found" mean?
PickMyTrade cannot see the account you selected. Recheck that your TopstepX API key is valid and active, and that the account name in PickMyTrade matches the account name in TopstepX exactly, including spacing and case.
What does "Order Rejected" mean?
TopstepX accepted the request but declined the order. Common causes are being outside allowed trading hours, exceeding a position or daily-loss limit, insufficient buying power, or a closed market. Check your account rules and current status, then resend.
What should I do if I get a "Contract Not Found" error?
The ticker in your TradingView alert did not map to a live TopstepX contract, often because the contract rolled to a new expiry or the symbol is spelled differently. Update the symbol mapping in PickMyTrade to the current front-month contract (for example, MNQ1! for Micro Nasdaq).
What should I do if I get an "Unknown Error"?
This is usually a temporary connection or API hiccup. Confirm your API key is still valid, check the PickMyTrade alert log for detail, and if it repeats, contact support with the alert timestamp.

For step-by-step fixes with screenshots, see the PickMyTrade ProjectX / TopstepX docs.
