What the PickMyTrade Topstep trade copier does

PickMyTrade is a trade copier and automation tool for Topstep. It takes one signal, either an alert from your TradingView strategy or a trade you place by hand on a master account, and places the same trade across one or many of your Topstep accounts at the same time. Entries, exits, stop-loss and take-profit prices stay identical on every account, and you can size each account differently with a per-account multiplier.

The model is simple: one master, many followers. You choose a master (source) account, connect the other accounts you own, and PickMyTrade mirrors every master trade out to the followers. There is no code to write, no plugin to install, and no VPS to run, because the whole flow lives in the cloud and works 24/7 whether your computer is on or off.

This works with Topstep accounts on the current TopstepX platform (which runs on ProjectX) and, where you still have them, with older Rithmic-era or Tradovate-linked Topstep accounts.

Topstep vs TopstepX: which platform are you on?

Topstep is the prop firm. TopstepX is its trading platform, built on the ProjectX infrastructure. As of mid-2025, Topstep moved new accounts onto TopstepX (ProjectX) and stepped back from the older Tradovate and other legacy connections for new sign-ups. For automation this matters, because the way PickMyTrade connects depends on which platform your account uses.

• New Topstep accounts generally live on TopstepX and connect to PickMyTrade with a ProjectX API key.
• Older Topstep accounts that you still hold on a Rithmic or Tradovate connection connect through those broker paths instead, where applicable.

Connecting your Topstep account

Connecting via the TopstepX (ProjectX) API key

In TopstepX, open Settings, then the API tab, and use the ProjectX Linking option to create or sign in to a ProjectX Dashboard account and subscribe to ProjectX API access. Back in TopstepX Settings, open the API tab again and click Add API Key to generate your key. Copy that key into PickMyTrade when you add your Topstep (TopstepX) account. TopstepX API access is a separate ProjectX subscription, billed by ProjectX rather than by PickMyTrade, so check the current price and terms in your TopstepX settings before you subscribe. Connecting a Tradovate-linked or Rithmic-era Topstep account

If you still hold an older Topstep account on a Tradovate connection, you connect it to PickMyTrade the same way you connect any Tradovate account, by authorizing through Tradovate's secure login; there is no API key to generate on this path. Rithmic-era Topstep accounts follow our Rithmic connection path. If you are opening a new Topstep account today, expect the TopstepX (ProjectX) API-key path above.

Step-by-step setup

1. Create a PickMyTrade account. Sign up and start the 5-day free trial (no credit card required).
2. Connect your Topstep / TopstepX account. For a TopstepX account, generate a ProjectX API key (Settings, API tab, ProjectX Linking, then Add API Key) and paste it into PickMyTrade. For a legacy Tradovate-linked account, authorize through Tradovate instead; for a Rithmic-era account, use the Rithmic path.
3. Generate your TradingView webhook. In PickMyTrade, click Generate Alert to get your webhook URL and the JSON message for your buy and sell signals.
4. Map your contracts and accounts. Choose your master (source) account, add the follower accounts you own, and set a quantity multiplier for each based on account size.
5. Paste into TradingView. Create an alert on your strategy or indicator, delete the default message, paste the PickMyTrade JSON, and set the webhook URL in the alert's notifications tab. Webhook alerts require a paid TradingView plan (Pro, Pro+, or Premium).
6. Test in sim first. Put the alert on a 1-minute chart or fire a manual test, check the PickMyTrade Alert Log, and confirm the order landed on each connected Topstep account before you trade a live evaluation or funded account.

Multi-account copy trading across Topstep Combine accounts

Running several Trading Combine or funded accounts is the main reason traders reach for a Topstep trade copier. PickMyTrade copies one master signal to every connected account at once, so you are not clicking through account after account and missing fills while you switch.

Per-account sizing: every account gets its own quantity multiplier. Client position equals master position times the multiplier, and decimal multipliers like 0.5, 1.5 and 2.5 are supported, with the final quantity rounding to a whole number. That lets you run a smaller Combine at 0.5x, a mid-size account at 1x and a larger one at 2x from the same signal, while each account stays inside its own contract limit. Topstep sets its own limits on how many accounts you can hold and how they can be traded together, and Topstep's scaling plan caps the maximum contracts you can trade at a given account balance, so confirm your current account limits and copy rules with Topstep before you scale up.

Topstep trade copier rules and compliance

A copier does not change the rules on your Topstep accounts, and it will not keep you compliant for you. Because every copied account trades the same signal, a setup that is compliant on the master is compliant on the copies, but you still have to keep your strategy inside Topstep's limits. The points below reflect Topstep's published rules as of 2026. Rules change, so confirm the current policy in your Topstep or TopstepX dashboard before you rely on any of them.

• Consistency target: Topstep asks that no single trading day makes up too large a share of your total profit before a payout. A copier does not break this, because the same trades run on every account.
• Maximum position size / scaling plan: Topstep caps how many contracts you can trade based on your account balance and stage. Set your master size and per-account multipliers so no follower account exceeds its own contract cap.
• Daily loss limit: Topstep enforces a Maximum Loss Limit (a trailing drawdown) on each account. Since the copier mirrors your master exactly, a losing run hits every account at once, so size conservatively.
• Lead / master account: designate one account as the master (source). TopstepX's own built-in copy feature calls the source account the Lead account. Only copy between accounts you personally own.
• What the copier will and will not do: it will place the same trade on every connected account with identical stop-loss and take-profit prices, sized by each multiplier, and it will let you stop copying instantly. It will not police Topstep's rules for you, cancel a trade that would breach a limit, or manage anyone else's account.

PickMyTrade connects to accounts on ProjectX (which powers TopstepX), Rithmic, and Tradovate, which many prop firms including Topstep run on. Copy trading and automation rules vary by prop firm and change over time, so always confirm Topstep's current policy before you go live.

Latency, cloud execution and no-VPS setup
